BUT WAIT!
Is it the real Armenian New Year? I
guess no.
The New Year is coming closer and
closer. Armenians start to think about how to celebrate it, they feel so
powerless, the reality crashes their Christmas dreams and New Year
faiths. Armenian children as well as the others are waiting impatiently for
Santa to bring them their desired presents. And the parents` thoughts were all
about money, money, money... getting more anxious and nervous because
next to all they gotta be the "Santa" for their children. And it
comes for the time to get that needed money.
Firstly comes their salary.
They gotta pay the taxes, gotta transfer the moneys for the monthly credits
they made during the year for being an up-to-date family.
Secondly, it comes the Armenian mentality: the New Year is the very time to EAT and to
Shock their neighbors, relatives and people* may come to
their home to share the holiday, with the abundance of different food. There
comes an Armenian joke: "Let`s
wait until New Year comes and we shall finally surfeit our appetite". But here is another problem:
money is finished.
* friends are not included in this
list of people, cause the real friends share your joy and sorrow not only
during the holidays.
Thirdly, they start borrowing
money from the neighbors, relatives and people
(also including friends) may come to their home who they were going to shock...what`s a paradox! :) And
finally, when everything is bought, prepared it`s time to think about themselves. They are thoughtful with how to wear,
what to gift to each other, cause it`s finally New Year: they enter a new phase of life. And
it is too reasonable and normal to hope and have a faith in the coming year of a brighter future, luck and money: the thing
that makes us so different, so anxious and so faithless at this holly
night of Christmas and New Year.
Finally I
would like to tell you just to stop for a minute and smile.
Why is everybody so
serious! Acting so damn mysterious, got your shades on your eyes and
your heels so high that you can't even have a good time. Yes we
leaving across these undefeatable odds. It's like this man, you can't put
a price on life, we do this for the love so we fight and sacrifice every
night, so we ain't gonna stumble and fall never waiting to see a sign of
defeat. So we gonna keep everyone moving there feet, so bring back
the beat and everyone will sing:
It's not all about... MONEY MONEY MONEY
p.s. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !!!
$pecial thanks to Jessy J for her song "Price Tag" :)
